Gary L. Hein

Thrips.

Thrips are tiny (one to two millimeters in length) cigar-shaped insects that congregate and feed under the bracts of the buds and in the flowers. Their feeding results in blotchy streaks on the bracts and leaves. The buds may turn bronze-colored and resulting heads may be somewhat deformed.
