Sheep and goats in the Great Plains are subject to infestations of sheep keds, “ticks”; three species of sheep lice, wool maggots, sheep nose bots, spinose ear ticks and other ticks, stable flies, house flies, face flies and the aquatic complex of biting flies (mosquitoes Culicoides, black flies Tabanids, horse and deer flies and biting gnats).
Goats experience some of the same arthropod pests of sheep, and except for
lactating goats, insecticide recommendations for sheep and goat ectoparasites are the same.
