Millet planted in the corners of center pivot irrigated corn fields is a favorite congregation site for European corn borer moths. While corn is a better host, they will lay eggs on millet and larvae will bore in the stems and cause significant damage.
Insecticides labeled on millet expected to be effective against European corn borer include Mustang MaxR and Tracer, although no efficacy data are available. See labels for rates and other details.
