Identification (Life Cycle/Seasonal History)

Two species of blister beetle Lytta nuttalli and L. cyanipennis have been observed feed on reproductive portions of the canola plant.  L. nuttalli is often found feeding on caragana hedges and fields bordering caragana may be more prone to blister beetle problems. 

Management

Treatment may be justified when there are 10 blister beetles per plant, feeding on flowers or pods.
