Green Peach Aphid

Aphids can transmit many of the virus diseases of importance to peppers, such PVY. (Imporatant exception: tomato spotted wilt, which is transmitted by thrips). Most of these viruses are transmitted too rapidly for insecticides to be effective in control. Aphid control should he done in combination with rougueing and removal of virus diseased plants.

Large numbers of aphids, particularly green peach aphid, may develop following use of insecticides that are disruptive to natural enemies. Insecticides that have contributed to aphid outbreaks on crops in Colorado include Sevin, parathion, Pouncel Ambush and others.

Note: The following products are listed for peppers, and may or may not be listed for other crops. Check product label for usage restrictions. ]
