The amaranth weevil, Conotrachelus seniculus, is a potential pest of amaranth. It lays its eggs in the stem near the ground. The larvae bore into the stem and root tissue, increasing the incidence of diseases. Increased damage from rots and larval boring can result in greater potential for lodging of the plants. Little is known about management of this insect.
