(Puccinia aristidae): appears as light yellow-green spots less than 0.1 inch in diameter, usually on the lower surface of a leaf. These spots enlarge and turn yellow as the pustule forms and then changes color to orange as rust caps open. Red rust is favored by cool, moist conditions. Controls include crop rotation (Do not include sugar beet which also is a host) and eradication of saltgrass (alternate host). No fungicide is labeled specifically for red rust.
